Tell it! Between Fiction and Reality
In this activity the teacher poses the boundaries between the representation of reality and the construction of fiction in the media. The limits and opportunities posed by the fiction format and the non-fiction format are raised.

Process
- What are the boundaries between fiction and nonfiction?
- What differentiates fiction from nonfiction specifically?
- What are the elements that define a nonfiction narrative?
- What are the elements that define a fiction narrative?
- How can false news be detected?
- What steps can we take to avoid false news?
SESSION 1
- Presentation of the activity
- Brainstorming. Students write down characteristics that define these two genres. The teacher groups the ideas of the students from the debate that they raise in the classroom.
- The teacher defines the two areas with the help of audiovisual examples (materials attached in the references section for the teacher). (60').
SESSION 2
Fake News: The teacher selects two pieces of news (one false and one true) and the class discusses and chooses which of the news items is real and which one is false (materials attached in the references section for the teacher).
Students should give reasons for their choices and discuss what steps could be taken to find out whether the news items are true or false. (60').
This activity has no evaluation.
